10 Basic Rules of FootGolf
- Footwear: No cleats on the course. Please wear turf shoes or indoor soccer shoes.
- Ball Identification: Select a ball and ensure it is easily distinguishable from others in your group.
- Order of Play: Determine the order of play on the first tee. After teeing off, “ready play” is encouraged—the player who is ready and it is safe to do so may kick, regardless of distance from the hole.
- Teeing Area: Begin each hole up to 6 ft behind the tee markers. A maximum two-step approach is allowed.
- Kicking Rules: The ball must be played in a single, continuous motion—no scooping, pushing, or rolling the ball with the sole.
- Ball at Rest: The ball must come to a complete stop before the next kick is taken.
- Play It as It Lies: Do not move the ball or remove obstacles, except when marking on the green to avoid interference with others.
- Out of Bounds: A ball that goes out of bounds incurs a one-stroke penalty. Replay from the previous spot.
- Pace of Play: Keep things moving—stay within one shot of the group ahead, be ready to kick when it’s safe, and record scores on the way to the next tee.
- Have fun—and bring your friends!
