Chastain Park Golf Course
Greens Recovery – Play has returned to all regular greens across the course following the recent sod work.
Tee Box Sod Work – The recently sodded tee boxes on holes 2, 10, 11, and 18 are open for regular play. The sod work on hole 16 tee box is still growing in.
Hole #4 Sinkhole Repair – The sinkhole repair, cart path, and sod work has been completed, and the hole is now open for regular play.
Tree Damage Update – The severe weather over the holiday weekend resulted in the loss of two trees on the golf course. Our large water oak on hole 7 unfortunately fell and has since been removed. Additionally, a tree on hole 12 partially fell, creating a safety hazard that required us to temporarily close the hole to play. The damaged tree was taken down on July 8th to allow hole 12 to safely reopen, with Forestry crews completed the remaining removal work on July 9th. We appreciate everyone’s patience as we worked to ensure the course remained safe for play.
Stump Grinding – Work to remove tree stumps across the course will start the week of July 13th and will be completed by July 17th.
Greens Renovation – We are preparing for a comprehensive greens renovation next growing season. The long-term renovation will include: complete reconstruction of all putting greens, enhanced subsurface drainage, and installation of TifEagle ultradwarf bermudagrass. TifEagle is widely regarded as one of the premier turf varieties for golf course greens. It was specifically developed for high-performance putting surfaces and offers a faster and more consistent ball roll, superior resistance to disease, heat, drought, and high foot-traffic stress, and quicker recovery from aeration and other maintenance practices. An RFP is being prepared to procure these improvements, with construction anticipated during the next growing season.
Community Open House July 18th – Join us for a fun and welcoming day at Chastain Park Golf Course—no golf experience needed! Bring your friends, family, or neighbors to learn about the course, meet the staff, and hear about programs offered through Atlanta City Golf.

Tee Sheet Updates
All four Atlanta City Golf Courses have transitioned to 10-minute tee time intervals to help create a better experience for all golfers. This change will support improved pace of play, reduce congestion on the course, and provide a more enjoyable flow throughout your round.
We are excited to announce the launch of our new Tee Time Booking Assistant! Try it at: https://cityofatlantagolf.noteefy.app/. Join the Tee Time Waitlist to get a text and email when your desired tee time comes available. We know that looking for cancelations or calling and refreshing repeatedly to find your desired times isn’t fun, so with our new virtual tee time assistant you will know right away when the time you want is available without needing to do anything.
*Greens Aerification
Greens aerification is an important maintenance practice that helps improve the long-term health and playability of the putting surfaces. During the process, small holes are created in the greens to relieve soil compaction, improve air and water movement into the root zone, and encourage stronger, healthier turf growth. Aerification also helps the greens recover from stress and supports smoother playing conditions over time.
Following aerification, golfers may notice small holes and a light layer of sand on the greens for a short period while the turf heals and the surfaces settle. Putting speeds and ball roll may be temporarily affected during this recovery period, but conditions will continue to improve as the greens heal and establish.
Golf Etiquette Tip: Repairing Ball Marks
A properly repaired ball mark helps keep greens smooth and healthy for everyone. After your ball lands on the green, take a few seconds to repair the mark by gently pushing the turf back toward the center with a ball mark repair tool or golf tee. Avoid lifting or twisting the turf, as this can damage the roots. Finish by lightly tapping the area flat with your putter. A ball mark that is properly repaired will heal completely within a couple days, whereas an improperly repaired or ignored ball mark will take weeks to heal.
Thank you for choosing Atlanta City Golf!
